LoRaWAN®

LoRaWAN®, which stands for Long Range Wide Area Network, is a wireless communication technology designed for low-power, long-range communication between devices in the context of the IoT (Internet of Things).

It enables devices to send small amounts of data over long distances, making it suitable for applications such as smart cities, agriculture, industrial automation, and other IoT scenarios.

LoRaWAN® Key Features

LoRaWAN® is a versatile and cost-effective solution for connecting a wide range of IoT devices that require long-range, low-power communication. It is commonly used in applications where devices need to transmit small amounts of data at infrequent intervals, such as environmental monitoring, asset tracking, and smart agriculture.

Long Range

LoRaWAN® is designed to provide long-range communication, allowing devices to transmit data over several kilometers in open spaces, making it suitable for applications that require communication over large geographic areas.

Low Power

LoRaWAN® devices are typically battery-powered, and the technology is designed to be energy-efficient. This allows devices to operate for an extended period without frequent battery replacements.

Scalability

LoRaWAN® supports a star-of-stars network architecture, allowing for the connection of a large number of devices to a single network server. This makes it scalable for a variety of IoT applications.

Security

LoRaWAN® incorporates security features to protect the communication between devices and the network server. Encryption and authentication mechanisms are implemented to ensure the integrity and confidentiality of the transmitted date.

ZENNER & LoRaWAN®

ZENNER Stealth Reader MIU (Water)

The ZENNER LoRaWAN® Water Meter Interface Unit (MIU) is a device that connects a water meter to the Long-Range Area Network. The unit reads the water consumption data from the meter and transmits it to a central server via the LoRaWAN® network. The server then processes the data and provides insights into the water usage patterns for customers as well as leaks within the system and customer sites as well as theft of utility assets.

ZENNER Stealth Reader MIU (Gas)

The ZENNER LoRaWAN® Gas Meter Interface Unit (MIU) is a device that connects a gas meter to the Long-Range Wide Area Network. The unit reads the gas consumption data from the meter and transmits it to a central server via the LoRaWAN® network. The server then processes the data and provides insights into the gas usage patterns for customers as well as other utility-needed data.
